Copart UK Grows its own IVR trainers

May 2024 - The Institute of Vehicle Recovery (IVR) are delighted to announce that Copart UK have once again chosen to partner with the IVR. This time as the first recycling organisation to put six of their employees through the ITSSAR train the trainer course.

The ITSSAR course is a ten-day intensive course and is the basis for delivering the IVR VR modules.  Copart’s newly qualified ITSSAR instructors leave the course able to deliver the VR28 Multi-Deck Transporter module into the salvage and vehicle recycling sector. Part of the ongoing relationship, robustly looks at all loading, unloading, transportation and securing protocols to ensure that the best processes are adopted across the board.

The ground breaking decision to train instructors through ITSSAR and the IVR scheme has come on the back of Copart receiving VR27b training from IVR approved instructors throughout their UK workforce.

With 27 physical UK locations covering over 1,000 acres, and part of a global business with over 40 years’ experience, Copart UK handles more than 500,000 vehicles every year; remarketing and recycling vehicles on behalf of the insurance sector, fleet, lease and hire companies, trade sellers, and the general public.

With such a large workforce and with a 400-strong transport fleet, it is the right decision for Copart UK to produce its own instructors to deliver the VR modules relevant to the salvage/recycling sector.

Mark Hartell, IVR CAT 4 Tutor delivered the ITSSAR course and said that, “Understanding the high training standards the IVR VR modular system delivers for the recovery industry within the National Highways Sector Scheme and within PAS 43 makes this the perfect choice for Copart.  As they deliver the training, Copart will be operating to the same standards as the recovery industry.

It is clear that Copart are making significant investment into the competency and safety of their workforce and have taken the lead in training their own instructors to help them take this forward. The key to this course is the practical sessions which give real-life, hands-on experience to those who attend it, delivered correctly it will definitely help move the needle towards a safer working environment.”
